This eight-story Groningen State building, built of fired brick, extends along the railway line towards the main station. From the platform, you can see the State in the distance, recognizable by its characteristic suspended glass "office box" on the city side of the building. Standing in this two-story floating meeting and office space, the ring road, like the railway line, is almost directly below you. The view of the city is impressive; you can see all the traffic movements, as well as the ever-changing Groningen skyline. You feel at home and protected here.
This estate was once occupied by a single business family, a wealthy real estate agency. After its completion in 2009, it proved unable to offer them financial security; during the crisis at the time, it became a financial burden. The real estate agency had to make way, and this was ultimately divided among 15 new residents, i.e., businesses, in keeping with the crisis. This transformed the estate into a business complex, a multi-tenant hub. It was cleverly and safely divided, both for the businesses and for us as the housing provider. Changes due to shrinkage or growth are not a problem for those involved, but rather a manageable and enjoyable challenge. It's quite a slick idea to have such an elite estate that proves to be a solution for several innovative companies and their employees. We've sold this gem to a new Groningen investor. They're taking pride in the building and its occupants, and we're pleased to see that.
