3 benefits of plants in the office + tips from our architect!
An office that stimulates employees to do their work well and at the same time promotes their vitality? That is possible, with GREEN! A workspace with plants has a positive effect on the work health in the office. In this blog you can read 3 major advantages of plants in the office. Including green styling tips from our architect!
#1: Better air quality
Plants freshen up the air in the office. Did you know that during an office day you breathe roughly between three and six thousand times? The cleaner the air you breathe, the better you can concentrate and the better you feel. Your memory also gets a boost.
Air quality depends on oxygen levels and humidity, among other things. If these are good, employees are generally more productive and suffer less from dry eyes, headaches and fatigue. (Sources: Office City & Rever)

How do plants do that? They absorb odors, dust particles and harmful substances. They also absorb CO2 from the air and then release oxygen. And research has shown that the humidity in rooms with plants is on average 5% higher than in rooms without. And that works noticeably better! (Sources: The Project Designer & Fact)
#2: Less stress
If you decorate a dull, grey office with real (or fake!) plants, that homely look will have a positive effect on your creativity and the stress level of the employees. Research has shown that about 1/3 of hard workers with plants on the work floor experience less tension and anxiety than normal. 58% also suffers less from negative feelings such as depression and anger because of the plants. Power to the plants! (Sources: Office City & Rever)

#3: Finer acoustics
The final piece: plants provide more pleasant acoustics. Because, however hip and handy, the modern office garden is often a bit noisy. One colleague is on the phone, two others are discussing and a fourth is singing along to the radio. Plants to the rescue. How? The leaves do not reflect the sounds in the room, but let them through. This reduces the reverberation time of each sound in the room individually, which means it becomes quiet again more quickly. And that does wonders for your concentration. Styling tip from our interior architect Muriel de Wit
"The larger the leaves of the plant, the greater the effect on the acoustics. It also helps if you place several plants together. And that fits in nicely with the trend of 2025: BIG IN GREEN! My tip: choose different types of plants with a large leaf. Arrange them as a green partition in the open space: a nice and healthy alternative to the classic partition wall.” – Muriel de Wit
Which plants are suitable for the office?
For example, you can choose the banana plant, Calathea orbifolia or Kentia palm. Would you like personal advice? Ask our interior architect to take a look with you. Contact →
